2 Days = Anxiety

I just wanted to post how excited/anxious/not ready I am! 2 days to go until I leave! I started my malaria medication today. That somehow made everything more real to me. It says to take it with food, and with my stomach I did not take this instruction lightly. So, I ate a ton of food (like sick to my stomach amount of food) and then took them. I feel fine? I've heard this is not the case with all people. So, lets keep our fingers crossed that I continue without problems because I really don't want malaria.

I also have nothing packed. I have a pile of stuff in my room if that counts. I'm working the night shift tonight and plan to pack tomorrow. Also need to find time to spray all of my clothes with permethrin as well for the mosquito situation. Soooo hopefully I will be ready.  We haven't been told where we are meeting for the airport on Saturday either, this only exacerbates my current anxiety. Everyone pray I get my act together in time.

Thanks for reading about my mundane concerns!

Halfway There!

I recently made the halfway mark for fundraising! I'm very excited about that. We are also having a meeting soon, called a "pill packing party" sounds illegal huh? Really, we just need to pack the medication that were donated into individual bags with labels, then place them each in their own container. They say 9 times out of 10 the luggage gets lost and sometimes destroyed, so I'm kind of laughing a little inside that we are going to so much effort when it all may be lost or destroyed. Oh well, I'm just along for the ride here. I can't believe it's getting so close! June 30th! Still putting off all those immunizations...

Address for donations!

Can't believe all the response I've gotten from my letters. My friends and family are all much too giving! I realize that my letter didn't enclose where to send the checks for donations! So, here it is:

e3 Partners Ministry
2001 W Plano Parkway Suite 2600
Plano, TX 75075

I can't thank you all enough! We are still working on getting all the funds and papers in order to go on the trip. I'm excited to begin packing up all the medications and supplies. We also had to pick roommates and lovely Holly Harmon was nice enough to ask me. So glad I have a friend from school that I know well going!

Again, here is my fundraising page!

Day 1 Fundraising and Paperwork

Preparing!

I have decided to go on a medical mission through The University of Alabama to Iquitos, Peru! Just started all the paperwork which seems a little overwhelming, but it will all be worth it. I've been looking for an opportunity to go on a medical mission and this is it! This is a blog so everyone may keep up with me while I'm on my trip! I will be gone from 6/30-7/8/2012. We are doing medical, dental, and eye clinics while down south.

I'm also doing fundraising for the trip, so if you would like to donate you can do so at this link, it's tax deductible :) Click here to donate!

I also was just told I have to get shots; hep A, yellow fever, and malaria? Not happy. not happy at all. I suppose I am more happy than if I got hep a, yellow fever, and malaria.... but still.
